Oak Hills Christian College has been named one of the greatest small colleges for a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling by Best Psychology Degrees ( bestpsychologydegrees.com). Oak Hills received the site’s award for its Bachelor of Science in Addictions Counseling which was introduced fall semester of 2014.

Best Psychology Degrees compiled the ranking in response to Bureau of Labor Statistics indicating that the job outlook for the counseling field is growing “faster than average.” According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment opportunities for substance abuse counselors will increase by 27 percent from 2010-2020.

“As our society becomes more individualistic, the need for counselors is going to increase,” said Derrick Houle, Applied Psychology Program Director at Oak Hills. “It is my conviction that we, as an institution, have a responsibility to teach and mentor our students to love well. Our students are equipped to be more than just ‘professional’ by recognizing the essential role that needs to be carried out in our society; to love and serve people well.”
