CLH small group performs Casting Call

Monday, December 04, 2017

What would it look like to see people audition for a living nativity? That is the question students answered this past Wednesday as a CLH small group performed Casting Call, written by Eddie James. The play included seven vignettes: a method actress over auditioning for a part as an angel; a man wanting to add the villain Herod to the nativity; a teen missing who we worship; a husband stepping outside his comfort zone; a nerd learning the difference between smart and wise; and a busy mom who learns how loved she is by God. The students: Claricesa Brink, Ben Folen, Billy Freyholtz, Phillip Harris, Whitney Jones, Jasmine Kelley, Zach Pratt, and Brandon Reller played their roles with great wit and wisdom.

Dr. Wisdom Attends the Society for Biblical Literature Conference

Thursday, November 30, 2017

The weekend before Thanksgiving I attended the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature. The conference this year was in Boston. This is an annual meeting that has been happening since the 1880, and it is held jointly with the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion. While we were there I attended a number of sessions devoted to various topics in biblical and theological studies, we (my wife traveled with me) attended worship at the first church I served after seminary, and we had the chance to have coffee and chat with my doctoral supervisor and his wife. An added bonus – we stayed in Boston through Thanksgiving to share the holiday with our son, who is studying in a master’s program at the Boston Conservatory.

Oak Hills Ministry in the Ukraine

Monday, November 27, 2017

Oak Hills ministry reaches far beyond northern Minnesota. Rick Weinert, Facilitator of Church and Ministry Resources at Oak Hills, recently returned from a trip to Odessa Ukraine on the Black Sea. A local pastor jointed Rick on the trip and while there, they taught Ukrainian and Polish students at a Missionary Training Center under International Messengers, assisted in their English Club outreaches, and preached at a church, and a church plant in the city. The students at the Seaside Missionary Training Center in Odessa will follow their training with a missions internship in several Eastern European and Central Asian countries. Rick also met with several Ukrainian ministry leaders for the purpose of encouraging and mentoring them.

Intercultural Outreach Trip To Minneapolis

Wednesday, November 15, 2017

Every student in a four year program at Oak Hills Christian College is required to take 2 credits of intercultural outreach.
