Oak Hills men earn home win

The Oak Hills Christian College men's basketball team eked out a narrow 74-71 home victory over Turtle Mountain Community College on Friday night.

Colin Tyrone led the Wolfpack (2-20) with 16 points as four other Oak Hills players cracked double-digits in scoring. Ronnie Jackson and Michael Wolfe each tallied 15 points, Aiden Guthrie put up 14 and Duke Abalos added 12. The Wolfpack will host Turtle Mountain again today at 2 p.m. -- Bemidji Pioneer

Wolpack women fall to Leech Lake

The Oak Hills Christian College women’s basketball team fell to Leech Lake Tribal College 68-35 on Tuesday night.

Annika Sannes led the Wolfpack (0-5) with 14 points while Gigi Reitmeier added nine.

Oak Hills will next meet Turtle Mountain Community College for a pair of games Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. -- The Bemidji Pioneer

FREYHOLTZ WINS NATIONAL TITLE FOR OAK HILLS CROSS COUNTRY

Oak Hills Christian College had three runners compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II National Cross Country meet in Clinton, MS. The Men’s team was represented by Bemidji’s Billy Freyholtz who out ran the field of 50 runners to win the National Championship with an 8K time of 27:45. The 5:35 per mile pace was good enough to have a winning margin of 25 seconds. Freyholtz was also named to the NCCAA DII All-American team. “We are so proud of Billy” Athletic Director Jeremy Anderson stated. “He represented Oak Hills and the Bemidji community with such class all season. It’s also a nice honor to have a National Champion during our first year ever having a cross country program.”
