Why study addictions counseling at Oak Hills?

Oak Hills’ Addictions Counseling program will prepare you to better understand the root causes of addictive behaviors including drug and alcohol abuse, as well as gambling, sex, food, and other addictions. The program, taught from a distinctly Christian worldview, will equip you with skills needed to participate in treatment and healing and will provide you with significant opportunities to practice those skills in actual treatment contexts.

This program consists of core courses in counseling and psychology, a minimum of 880 hours of fieldwork, and a full major in biblical studies.

What Careers Will I Be Prepared For?

Graduates will have met all educational and experiential requirements to become a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) in Minnesota. Students must pass a state-administered exam before licensure is granted. LADC professionals are employed in counseling centers and in out-patient and in-patient treatment centers.
