Why Online?

Oak Hills Christian College offers associate and bachelor degree programs that can be completed 100% online. We understand that not every student who has the desire to complete a degree has the time to go to a traditional campus every day. We feel that it is important to offer high quality and relevant Bible-based educational opportunities to those who desire the convenience, flexibility and affordability of online programs.

If you are thinking about starting a degree program or would like to finish one that you started previously, earning that college degree is a realistic and attainable goal. The internet makes it possible for you to join fellow students and instructors in a dynamic learning environment without long commutes to class or fixed class schedules. Working professionals can study at night or early morning. Stay at-at-home parents can study during kids’ naptimes. Military members can study from anywhere in the world. Rural students can stay at home and complete a degree without the need to drive long distances. Home school parents can learn along-side their children.

Oak Hills Christian College offers online courses year around.  Our advisors work with you to schedule your courses. Each course is instructor-led with specific start and end dates. Within the course, we use a system which doesn’t require you to be online at any particular time. You will log into your courses from your computer or tablet with your own Student Portal.  For each course, you will be able to see the full content of the course and the due dates for all your assignments. You will work through each unit of the course, submit assignments and get instructor feedback.  When each unit is complete you move on to the next. This format provides flexibility and allows you to decide when logging in to the course fits your schedule.

In research collected from 2,200 accredited colleges and universities across the nation, Oak Hills Christian College was recognized for offering an exceptional collection of online learning options at a very affordable price. The study, conducted by AffordableCollegesOnline.org, ranked Oak Hills Online as one of the most affordable programs in Minnesota. See rankings here.

Credit for Prior Learning

Transfer of Credit for Online Programs

Oak Hills is transfer-friendly! Submit your unofficial transcripts and we will be glad to evaluate them for you!

General Policies for Online Programs:

Credits earned at other colleges with a grade of "C" or better may be transferred to OHCC and applied toward graduation, provided those credits meet the program requirements. Pass/no pass courses do not transfer, unless the college's transcript indicates that the "Pass" equals a "C" or better. The college needs to be recognized by an accrediting agency or acknowledged by OHCC. Students may be asked to validate equivalent subjects taken at non-accredited schools. After equivalency has been approved, the credits will be pending official approval until the student achieves a minimum GPA of 2.0. This must be done during the student's first year at OHCC or the transfer credits will be lost. Online students will be required to take a minimum of 30 credits (15 in Biblical Studies; 15 in Major) for a Bachelors degree or 21 credits (9 in Biblical Studies) for an Associates degree of Oak Hills courses.

Credit for Prior Learning

There is no maximum limit on credit for prior learning for Adult & Professional Studies (APS) students provided that students meet all the required policies of the college. We will work with you to estimate the number of prior learning credits you might earn in an online degree program prior to beginning the program. Credit for Prior Learning hours can be from a number of different sources, including workshops, seminars, self-study, noncredit classes, training programs and/or work experiences. Students may earn Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) by submitting a portfolio that will be evaluated by a faculty member in the relevant field for the amount of credit to be awarded.
