Camp Missionaries

Camp Missionary Candidates
Camp is excited to introduce our new missionary staff candidates.

Stephen Helweg has accepted the position of Facilities Director. Stephen & Rylie, son Matthew, and baby due in August are in the process of raising a financial support team so Stephen can join the camp staff full time. Stephen is a graduate of Oak Hills Christian College and Rylie, of Colorado Christian University. They met in high school while being involved in church and camp ministries near Warroad, MN. For Stephen, serving as the Facilities Director will combine his two passions: “I have always enjoyed working with my hands and have the natural ability to do well in the construction world. At the same time, I have always felt a clear calling to ministry.”

Lydia Schrader has accepted the position of Guest Services Director.  Lydia was a camper when the camp reopened in 2009. She started serving as Junior Staff the summer of 2013 and has served the last 6 summers on summer staff in the positions of Camp Store Manager and Activities Director. Lydia is passionate about camp ministry and feels God’s call to be a part of helping camp grow into a year-round ministry: “I am very excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to see how God plans to impact the lives of young people through me as I serve Him and others through this position.”

Filling these two missionary staff positions is critical to the vision of operating a year-round camp ministry. Stephen will be focusing on developing the facilities to be able to operate year-round and Lydia will be focusing on scheduling retreat groups to utilize the camp facility. Both of these positions will take responsibilities off the Camp Director’s plate—allowing him to focus more time on development and marketing needed to run a year-round camp ministry. Please pray that these missionary candidates are able to raise their support teams quickly. If you would like to help them reach their support goals, please contact camp or visit the website.

Summer Staff Opportunities
We have filled many of our summer staff positions, but there are still some openings. If you are looking for a significant way to serve Jesus this summer, prayerfully consider working at Camp Oak Hills. There are volunteer and paid positions available in areas such as counseling, programming, & kitchen help.  If you are 14 years of age or older and demonstrate a consistent walk with Jesus, there is a place for you to serve at Camp Oak Hills. Check out our website for more information and to apply.
