The OHCC EXPERIENCE
Spiritual Development
CHAPEL, a.k.a. Community Life Hour (CLH), provides a time for the Oak Hills community to come together for worship, prayer, fellowship, learning and exchange of community information. Because these services are essential to the education and community life program, regular attendance is required for on-campus students. Small groups, which give our students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to interact in a less formal setting, are also part of CLH.
THE PRAYER CHAPEL overlooking Lake Marquette is an all-season building specifically designated for community members to use for personal prayer, scripture reading, and reflection.
STUDENT-LED BIBLE STUDIES AND WORSHIP NIGHTS occur throughout the year, often around a campfire in the historic fire tower located on campus.
Campus Activities
Our 185 acre lakeside campus provides a backdrop for several outdoor activities, including canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, disc golf, sledding, broomball and more. With several firepits on campus, students can also enjoy the outdoors together around a campfire. Mowed trails provide opportunties for cross country running, walking, hiking, and snowshoeing.
Indoor activities include pick-up games of volleyball and basketball in the gym, exercising and lifting weights in the weight room, and playing foosball or pool in one of our lounges. Other regular activities include Procrastonight, Craftonight, and Kareoke Night. A special Coffeehouse occurs each semester where students and staff come together to showcase their talents.
Annual fall trips include: Canoe to DQ, Itasca State Park and Duluth, MN. Periodic mission trip opportunities are also available, typically between semesters.
Leadership Opportunities
Resident Assistants (R.A.’s) are returning students who live in campus housing, lead by example, and serve as a liason between students and student life staff.
Student Chaplains are upperclassmen students who are often ministry majors. Their role is to encourage the spiritual growth of other students as they lead by example and plan and serve in chapel.
Student Engagement Team (SET) consists of returning students who plan and promote regular campus activities, such as game nights, tailgates, and nerf gun wars. They also are responsible for the Annual Spring Banquet.
Annual Events
The RUN FOR THE HILLS 5K is held on campus the last Saturday in September each year. All proceeds support the student grant fund, providing the annual grants and scholarship which make biblical education more affordable to the students God leads to OHCC. HOMECOMING is held each year on campus the last Saturday in September each year. Both indoor and outdoor activities are available for all ages! Students are encouraged to invite their families to join them on campus. Learn more on the homecoming webpage here.
CHRISTMAS AT THE OAKS is an annual campus event for students and their families, joined by staff and faculty, as they come together to celebrate the season. Festivities begin in the afternoon with a cookie decorating contest in the Thompson Great Room. Grab a free mug (compliments of Amity Graphics) Other games and activities are available, with snacks and hot beverages (wiith free mugs provided by Amity Graphics) available in the Welcome Center.
Campus-wide activies are available until evening when everyone meets outside by the large fir tree for the “Tree Lighting Ceremony. We sing, read scripture, and remember the reason for Christmas – the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. We light the tree as a reminder that Jesus is the “Light of the world.” John 8:12
Afterwards, all are invited to a traditional turkey dinner with all the “fixins”free of charge. And of course, there is a fire provided in the firepit in case some want stay and roast marshmallows for s’mores.

SPRING BANQUET has been an Oak Hills tradition for many years. Celebrating the end of the school yer together, this is a formal event with special food, formal dress, music, and games.
