Qualifications and Position Requirements:
➢ One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and healthy family life.
➢ One who possesses a heart for youth ministry, basic administrative skills, and a personal spiritual life, congruent with biblical mandates for leaders. (Reference Timothy 3:1-7)
➢ Formal training from Bible School, seminary, or Christian University is preferred. Life experiences will also be taken into consideration as a demonstration of Christian spiritual maturity
➢ One who can create and executing a long-term vision for United Covenant Church’s youth ministry.
➢ One who is gifted and is called to youth ministry loves young people and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
➢ An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with United Covenant Church’s Statement of Faith.
➢ A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for youth ministry, possessing elation skills with students, parents, and staff.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Ministries involved: Teenagers in grades 7-12
Activities and Curriculum shall be age-appropriate and focused on growing student’s faith. Utilize spiritual and ministry guidance from the Senior pastor to promote youth outreach, worship, fellowship, and discipleship.
➢ Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers with diverse gifts and personalities.
➢ Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities, keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
➢ Support the families of youth group attendees by teaching Christian values.
➢ Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget; also manage student fees for events and trips in a timely fashion.
➢ Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries, (Ex. Kids Blast, Adult groups, etc)
➢ Be willing to spend time with youth group members outside of church activities.
➢ Be aware of the need for safety and accountability by maintaining appropriate professional boundaries when interacting with students.
➢ Willingness to engage in the communities and schools.
➢ Plan at least one quarterly outreach activity apart from camps, conference events, and regular youth meetings.
➢ Other duties as directed by the Senior Pastor.
Expectations:
➢ Grow United Covenant Church youth ministry in meaningful ways.
➢ Attend weekly meetings with the Senior Pastor and staff.
➢ Attend worship services and other church events as much as possible,
➢ Support and work cooperatively with the Senior Pastor, Leadership Team, and Christian education Ministry Team in fulfilling God’s vision for United Covenant Church.
➢ Support and promote Lake Beauty Bible Camp, Solid Rock, and Northwest Conference activities.
➢ Present semi-annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Leadership Team.
➢ Participate in a yearly job performance review.
➢ Attend all United Covenant Church congregational, Leadership team, and Christian Education Committee meetings.
➢ Stay current with youth ministry practices by attending Northwest Conference and other approved youth leader training opportunities.
