What would it look like to see people audition for a living nativity? That is the question students answered this past Wednesday as a CLH small group performed Casting Call, written by Eddie James. The play included seven vignettes: a method actress over auditioning for a part as an angel; a man wanting to add the villain Herod to the nativity; a teen missing who we worship; a husband stepping outside his comfort zone; a nerd learning the difference between smart and wise; and a busy mom who learns how loved she is by God. The students: Claricesa Brink, Ben Folen, Billy Freyholtz, Phillip Harris, Whitney Jones, Jasmine Kelley, Zach Pratt, and Brandon Reller played their roles with great wit and wisdom.
The play was the capstone for a drama small group that met fall semester. Part of Community Life Hour (CLH) includes opportunities for students to explore different avenues of expressing the gifts that they have been given.
