Dr. Giese on Lakeland News

We are excited to announce Dr. Martin D. Giese as President of Oak Hills.

Please take a moment to read the following letter from Oak Hills Board Chairman Dr. Gary Siefers introducing Dr. Giese as President.

Dear Friends,

As the Chairman of the Oak Hills Board, it is my privilege to introduce Dr. Martin D. Giese as the new President of Oak Hills Fellowship. After a 9-month professional search process, the Oak Hills Board unanimously voted to ask Dr. Giese to be our next leader. The Board prayed for a Christ-like leader with proven leadership competency and an understanding of the ministry context of Oak Hills. God answered by preparing Dr. Giese for this role. We are thankful to those who have served faithfully in the past; and are eager to see the lives God will touch through this significant ministry in the MN Northwoods.

Dr. Giese’s personal connection with Oak Hills began at a young age as he watched Oak Hills’ second president, Jim Schreiber, spin tops and share the gospel message. He then attended Oak Hills as a student from 1974 – 1978, during which he spent a summer on staff at Mokahum Ministry Center.

His master’s thesis birthed a ministry based at Oak Hills for 14 years, “The Country Shepherds’ Workshop.” At various times he has served as a board member, an adjunct professor, and a consultant to the Oak Hills’ Board and Administration. He has worked alongside past Oak Hills’ Presidents Thompson, Smith, Hovestol, Bower, Claussen, and Hostetter and considers these men friends.

As Senior Executive, Dr. Giese will guide the vision and provide strategic leadership in developing long-term initiatives that will advance the mission of Oak Hills. He values the legacy of Oak Hills in pioneering ministry work in a variety of contexts and looks forward to continuing his support of Oak Hills Christian College, Camp Oak Hills, CIM, and the Church Ministries department.

We invite you to join the Oak Hills Board, staff, and volunteers as we continue the adventure which God began almost one hundred years ago under a large oak tree by the shores of Lake Marquette. We believe the years to come will allow God to continue to show His glory. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Giese as our new President.

For His Kingdom,

Dr. Gary G. Siefers

Oak Hills Board Chairman
